Our Trainer
Hi there! My name is Nick and I have been a dog lover my whole life. I got my start in behavioral dog training during the COVID-19 pandemic when,like many others, I adopted a shelter dog with separation anxiety and some reactivity. I wanted to help her be a better adjusted dog, so I started furthering my education as a dog trainer. Fortunately, working with animals and special needs dogs came naturally to me.

When I adopted Sam, I was working at Best Friends,the largest no-kill animal sanctuary in the US. During my time working with a wide range of dog breeds, ages, and needs, I learned so much about dog behavior and developed a strong passion for helping dogs. In particular, I found myself most drawn to supporting special needs dogs and finding them a loving home that fit their personality and needs.

​Sam, my shepard husky mix, came to Best Friends from a hoarding situation in another state in mid 2021. She was fearful of people and reactive towards other dogs. We have been working together to re-socialize her and help her adjust to new people, dogs, and environments. She has truly turned a corner and now is one of the most friendly, outgoing, and kind dogs I have encountered. She has learned lifelong, positive behaviors that also make her an excellent coaching dog. Sam and I work together to help train and socialize other dogs by using both behavioral reinforcement, and learning by example techniques.

​I believe that every dog deserves a chance to learn and grow. They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but I know that every dog at any age or temperament has the ability to learn new skills. I am dedicated to working with dogs and their best friends (you!) to teach you both the long-lasting skills and habits you need to overcome everyday obstacles. Dogs, like humans, have unique personalities and triggers that cause their unwanted behaviors. Working with dogs in their own environment, and working directly with their owners to learn new tools, is a crucial aspect of helping your dog be the best they can be!
